Susan Eliza Beck's parents were Thomas Wright Beck and Esther Blackman Fellows. Thomas was born on December 28, 1799; Esther on August 23, 1812, both in Sampson County, North Carolina. They were married on March 22, 1829. Their children were Sarah Rebecca, Mary Louisa, Catherine Whitfield, John William, George Pickney, Lewis Henry, Thomas, Esther, Helen Mariah, David Wright, Susan Eliza and Joseph Brantley. At some point after 1830, Thomas and Esther moved to Wilkes County, GA where many of their children were born. But by 1850 when Susan Eliza was born, they had moved to Carroll County, MS. Thomas died on November 10, 1869; Esther on September 16, 1890. They are buried together in Old Salem Cemetery. Thomas was the son of Rebecca and William Beck, Jr. and the grandson of Julia Whitfield Beck and William R. Beck, Sr. Esther was the daughter of Sarah Blackman Fellows and John Fellows and the granddaughter of Sarah and William Fellows and Esther and Josiah Blackman.
