Manuel Molla & Victoria Cuccia

Manuel Molla, son of Sylverio Molla and Amparo Herreros, was born December 25, 1892 in Valencia, Spain. He died May 7, 1960 (age 67) in Algiers, LA. He married Victoria Cuccia, daughter of Andrea Cuccia and Antonina Guidera, on June 7, 1922 in New Orleans. She was born January 17, 1899 in New Orleans and died April 4, 1995 (age 96) in Metairie, LA. Manuel is buried in West Lawn Memorial Park in Algiers. Victoria is buried in the All Saints Mausoleum on the grounds of Lake Lawn Park Cemetery in Metairie, LA.

Their children were:
Victoria ("Vickie") - b. January 1, 1923; d. July 15, 2011
Sylvia - b. January 1, 1923; d. May 16, 2012

For more information on the descendants of Manuel and Victoria, click here.

Note: Victoria's birthday was always celebrated on January 17th. However, the Birth Certificate lists the date as February 7th. The reason for the discrepancy is unknown.

1900 Orleans Parish Census - Victoria is 1 yr old and living at 1305 Bienville Street with her parents who are listed as Henry (age 40) and Lena (age 33), and her siblings Rosa (age 14) and Doma (age 2), who would be Domenica. Henry's occupation is Day Laborer, and the Census indicates that he arrived in the U.S. in 1886 and that Lena and Rosa both arrived in 1897.

1910 Orleans Parish Census - Victoria is 11 yrs old and living at 927 Toulouse Street with her parents Henry (age 50) and Antonina (age 42), and her sibling Rosie (age 3), who would be Pauline. Henry's occupation is Banana Peddler.

1920 Orleans Parish Census - Victoria is 20 yrs old and living at 927 Toulouse Street with her parents Andrea (age 50) and Antonina (age 47), and her sister Pauline (age 12). Henry's occupation is Banana Salesman. Andrea and Antonina's ages are considerably off as they were recorded in this census.

1930 Orleans Parish Census - Manuel and VIctoria are living at 8003 Green Street and are 36 and 31 years old respectively. Also in the household are their daughters Vickie (listed as "Victorine") and Sylvia, both 7 and their nephew, Henry Cruppi, age 20. Manuel's occupation is listed as a grocery store owner.

1940 Orleans Parish Census - Victoria, 41 years old, is living with her mother Antonina at 2923 Dumaine Street. In the household are her daughters Victoria and Sylvia, both 17, and her niece Angelina Cruppi, age 24. Victoria is listed as a seamstress.

Manuel remarried to a Theresa Couvillion; there were no children from that marriage. Upon her death in 2012, I was able to locate one of Theresa's relatives who graciously provided me with Manuel's photograph album, the source of most of his pictures below.
